Apparently Apple has found a way to at least theoretically disable iPhone unlock software. It’s been reported by users of HowardForums that the most recent Apple Macbooks somehow disable the popular Pwnage iPhone software unlock tool.
Pwnage tool requires iPhones that are about to be unlocked to be swtched into DFU mode, but once that’s done the new aluminum Macbooks simply cannot recognize the device.
It’s hard to imagine that this issue could be attributed to the actual components of these Macbooks; it is most likely that a new build of iTunes that these Macbooks come preloaded with is what is causing this problem.
iPhoneWorld.ca didn’t have a chance to get access to one of these Macbooks so we can’t provide any additional information on the issue nor find out whether these claims are true. We also don’t know whether ZiPhone, the other popular iPhone hacking tool was affected (if you could provide any additional information on this we’d be very grateful).

But if it is indeed true, it would mean that Apple has started taking iPhone hacking more seriously than it did before and now they are targeting specific unlock programs in an effort to cripple them. So don’t be surprised if the next iTunes update will stop iPhone hacking tools from functioning altogether — at least until iPhone hackers will find some countermeasures against this.
